fella on 3rd cycle of 6 Rounds of EOX. Remains to do well. Tumour Defo shrinking as he can now eat again, after nearly 7 months of pure struggling. And lost 6 stone.....Next step before cycle 4 is a CT scan to check how things are going! We're both scared, why check if we know it's doing ok?? Now we think has it spread?? We have also since decided to get matted pretty fast, been together 23 years and now married in 8 weeks, got my dress ready and wedding rings next. Just us. Our two young boys and two witnesses, so a very private special do, followed by a private helicopter ride for us and the boys xxxx

  • Hi Gemini23,

I think why they are do this is only to check. It doesn't mean it has spread.

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer last year and sometime in January, his medication had been switched a bit and this made his numbers go up a little bit. The doctors had him do a CT scan to see if the cancer had spread, and turns it that it hadn't spread at all. I just wanted to tell you this because I worried for a while that doing these scans again had meant that my dad's cancer had spread and he turned out to still be the same.

I know every person is different, but I hope that in this case it will turn out the same way. When does he get the CT scan done? I know how stressful times liek this can be, I hope that this message can ease your mind a little!

  • It is probably just a routine scan, to see what effect the chemo is having. They have no way of knowing what's going on inside without a scan of some sort :-)
