Hi

I've joined the forum as I want to find out about a) trials  b) how to find out more information about specific cancers ie mets  c) how to find out what medication patients should receive when having chemo and d) general chats about experiences at hospitals  and treatments

  • Welcome to the forum Babbage.

I know you're looking to find out a few things so I just wanted to let you know first of all that you can find out more about clinical trials here. I would advise ringing our cancer nurses next week about points b and c as they will be in the best position to help with this. Their freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

If you feel comfortable telling us a bit more about yourself and your cancer experience other members will then be able to reply and share their experiences with you. The 'search forum' option above will help you find previous discussions about cancer treatments on the forum as well.

I hope this helps and you are able to find what you are looking for soon Babbage.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Steph thanks for the information. I will endeavour to telephone this week re b & c. I have reviewed your website for trials and did telephone for a quick discussion. The person I spoke to left me feeling quite despondent as she indicated that it was too late in the staging for my husband to be considered for trials as in her view he was at stage 4 - the drs are still indicating that he is at stage 3. I am going to continue to look at trials and look on the bright side as to not and be despondent is not where we need to be. I will share the experience of treatment once the matters in question have been resolved which I hope is before my husband's next session of chemo - hope that is ok? Thanks
  • Many members on the forum have said how important it is to maintain a positive mindset in situations like these so I'm glad to hear you intend on doing the same Babbage.

And yes that's ok Babbage as that is what the forum is for :) The experience you share of your husband's treatment may be able to help other members, especially new ones like yourself, who are in a similar situation so feel free to post as much as you want to about this.

    All the best,
