Newbie, hubbie with possible thyroid cancer.

Does anyone know anything about anaplastic thyroid cancer, the very fast growing type? We have been for 3 appointments but keep getting told we have to wait for an ultrasound due to NHS waiting times for a specialist. Desperately confused and worried! Please help!

  • Hi Cazap,

I know you're looking for information about thyroid cancer so I just wanted to stop by and let you know I have found some general information about this on our website. Just click here to find out more and if you have any questions or would like to chat to someone about this do give our cancer nurses a call. You can call them for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope this helps and your husband doesn't have to wait too much longer for the ultrasound.

    All the best,

  • Understandably its challenging Newbie, but try to stay calm and composed as outlook is everything with cancer management. In NHS there is 2 week protocol with cancer treatment, so everything should move at that pace . Perhaps try and chase your GP surgery for that (not ideal but needed) . My 19 years old son got diagnosed with papillary type earlier this year but we were getting appointments with 2 weeks window period, USG, FNA then TT and B/L neck dissection. He is recovering well now and waiting for RI therapy. His surgeon was very reassuring and kept on saying that thyroid cancer is a friendly one (  don't know how true is that but something to rely on) . she also said these days we have moved on with cancer treatment so there are lots of options for all types . stay composed but keep pushing . Hope it goes well for you.
