Chemo sickness

Dad had his first lot of chemo on Thursday (EOX). he has stage four oesophagus cancer with it spread to his liver and stomach. We ended up in a&e Thursday night with him being very very sick, throwing up dried blood (due to internal bleeding of the tumour) and he's been on chemo pills and antisicknes pills at home.

It has been going okay but tonight he's being very sick again, regardless of the pills. We think it may be due to him having eating a bit of a rich dinner that hasn't agreed with him.

It's horrible seeing him this ill and obviously seeing and hearing anyone vomit that much is unpleasant. Does anyone have any idea how long this usually works and any tips on how to get through it as easily as possible? For him and us.

Thanks. V.

  • Hi Victoriajayne . Im sorry to hear about your dad been so ill . I started my first chemo on 16th for breast cancer and within an hour of getting home i was so sick , my husband had to ring the oncology team and a nurse came out with a sickness injection it did work but i felt so dizzy and tired , today is the first day ive felt anything like normal . chemo is horrible but we have to do it . speak to your dads ongology team before his next chemo and explain you need better sickness tablets , thats what the nurse adviced me to do . I wish you and your dad good luck
