I received the initial results of my bowel tumour biopsy following sigmoidoscopy at an appointment with my surgeon. I took my partner with me so he was told at the same time. He will also come with me to my next post operative appointment on the 24th when we will find out if the tumour has spread. Our attitude is that we are facing this together and therefore all the information is shared with him with MY CONSENT. If I didn't consent for him to know what was happening regarding tests and treatments then staff would not be able to share any information with him at all.
