Getting a 2nd opinion (point 1, 2)

Good evening everybody,

this is Ross, lost in the web I discovered this forum. I am here to ask advice about seeking a 2nd opinion about the cure/treatment given to my mom, terminally ill.

Diagnosed with Cervix cancer 15 months ago, she has been treated with chemo-radio therapy to then have surgery. 90 days later cancer was back and extended so she is (at the moment) going through chemo cycles.

According to two different doctors/hospital, the cure is basically a palliative cure meaning the cancer is in a advance phase.

Being a foreigner (the patient is being treated in Italy), I am not very confident with the nhs system so I seek advice about:

1. how do arrange an appointment with a specialist who cuold read the medical report I have plus the pictures of the RMN scan?  Who do I contact? ie: GP then hospital^ ?

2. Can I call some phone number to book and simply go to the Professor to show the medical reports?

3. Who would you contact if you were me?

I just want to be told: OK, this DIASGOSIS is CORRECT , or it's WRONG.

thank you very much to anyone reading

regards

  • Welcome to our forum Ross although I’m sorry to hear that your mum was diagnosed with cervical cancer 15 months ago and that the prognosis, according to the doctors, is rather poor.

Unfortunately, I cannot answer the questions you asked but I hope some of our members who have been in the same position of caring for their loved ones affected by cancer will soon stop by to share their experiences with you and offer their advice.

In the meantime, don't hesitate in joining the conversations going on here, you’ll find that people on Cancer Chat are very helpful and I’m sure they’ll be happy to chat with you.

    Best wishes,
