Advice for lung cancer

hi my husbands auntie (we are her only relations) is 90years old has been told before Christmas that she has left lower mass with bilateral lung nodules likely lung cancer with bilateral Mets and advanced malignancy also she has advanced osteoarthritis. Not sure what any of this means, no treatment as it is advanced. The Macmillan nurse came to see a few times but not coming again until needed. She is still losing weight although she does eat other wise she is doing okay. Neither myself or hubby know what to expect.

    Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your husband’s aunt. It seems a shame to have reached her age and to then succumb to cancer.

I am not a medic, but it sounds as if it is fairly advanced. Sadly, none of us know when her day will come. Her consultant may be best able to give a rough estimation.

I believe that cancer is less active in the elderly (I may be wrong about this), which may be why the doctors are not advocating any further treatment. At her age it might be too great a strain.

Why not phone the nurses on this site. It is free to phone and you will find them very helpful? They should be able to give you some idea of what to expect. Write a list of questions down before you call – that way you won’t forget what you want to ask.

We are always here for support, so please feel free to come back any time you need to.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
