I am someone who had prostate cancer about 7 years ago. Have your medical team actually told you the cancer is back? For sometimes you can get a psa reading that is higher than last time. For instance a year ago my psa was highr than befor but on the next two test it went back down again; in fact the last one ios still lower than a years= ago.

I would assume your medical teal want to check as they have arranged scans. Please let us know how your husband gets on with the scans. Sending kind thoughts your way, Brian.

we have been told that is is back as the PSA had  quadrupled over a short period of time and has continued to rise over the last 18months.

I know that there are still more treatment options but life becoming unpredictable with it less easy to make plans for the future is quite hard.

I know the latest news is new and I hope that we will able to adjust like we have previously but the anxiety of awaiting  scans/results is very difficult.

I hope that your PSA remains low.

I know how hard it is when your told one thing and the opposite happens, it's bad enough living with this hanging over your head, he and you must feel devastated at this news. 

I am sure your husband will recieve the best help there is once the scans etc have been sorted, medicines in this day and age are progressing at a rapid rate of knots, like your husband I hope one day they will find something that keeps us with our loved ones a lot longer.

My husband was diagnosed in June 2013 with advanced prostate cancer with a psa of over 1000.  It had already spread to his lymph nodes and bones. It was missed by our gp and local hospital 10 months before but was probably advanced by then anyway. Been a rollercoaster the last four years. He has had two turps, hormone therapy, zometa, enzalutamide, abiraterone, steroids, etc.  Nearing the end of the road here and it's heart breaking. He is 53 and we have been together 10 years.  You aren't alone.  What a cruel world.

My PSA was 893 I got classed as G9 and stage T4 I was so annoyed that it had not been found earlier, it was only until I moved practices that the GP found it, as I am borderline diabeties and have gout my bloods were taken fairly often up to three or four times a year. 

I have lots of aches and pains shoulder, back, chest, short of breath, but been told for my condition I am doing fairly well, despite acid reflux to boot, ( what a life ) I have had various X-rays waiting on reports back, knees, back and heart. 

Thats me on my soap box sorry, flipping desease, like you I am dedicated to my partner my wife 13 years younger than me ( i am 65 ) is my one thing I want to stay on this planet for, it is so unfair on the loved ones, leaving an empty space ( but not yet I intend to fight while I have breath in me ) we've been together for 35 years and I love her to bits.

Because your husband is so young, they may still be able to help him, has he gone through EBRT ? There's some new treatments that may help, I know you've proberly gone down this route but have you checked for new procedures like shock therapy or stem cell research, there are others I check fairly often, I ve been on the Stampede trial and it's fairly successful.

Its never the end of the road until there's nothing left, hope there's something out there keep a brave face on, like my wife I know this is ripping you both apart and we are helpless to do anything but smile, as you say it is a cruel world.

My dad was in a similar situation and yesterday we were told his cancer is now life limiting.  We have many conversations and decisions ahead.
