Partner with lung cancer

My partner has recently been told he has lung cancer with mestatasis to skull base. We are waiting for an MDT meeting next week to find out the stage etc. My partner is in so much pain, i am constantly on the phone to our GP.

He has 2 good days and the rest are him in pain, being sick and unable to eat. He was in hospital when we found out the news and spent a week of CTscans PET scan and an Ebus. He was discharged and i do my best to help him with various medications. I feel like we have been left to deal with this with a bottle of morphine and tablets.

Everything is up in the air as we have to wait for this meeting so we know what we are dealing with. Why is it taking so long ?

My partner is dropping weight , not eating properly and fading away before my eyes. He wont talk about the cancer , i know he is scared. How can i help him the best way i can.

  • Hi Sue,

The waiting after diagnosis is always hard. Hopefully the MDT meeting will come up with a care plan and you will start getting all the care and support you need. You might want to contact your local MacMillan service directly, or via your GP. The hospital should refer you on to them after the MDT but your GP should be able to do this too.

    Best wishes
