Dad with cancer

although my dad has stage 4 liver cancer,he seems to have good days where you wld think there is nothing wrong and other days I think oh is he going to survive the next few days then he picks up again is this normal?

  • Hi YoYo44

My husband has primary liver cancer he was diagnosed 4 and a half years ago. I see the same in him as you do in your dad. He can go days where he looks fine, but other days he will look awful. He does get severe pain in his shoulder, neck and back most days, and his legs sometimes will not work properly (that may be down to the major stroke he had 15 years ago I dont know). All I can say is enjoy the days when your dad is not too bad, and just be there for him when he is having bad days.

I hope this makes sense to you and if you need to talk feel free to let your feelings out and I promise I will listen and understand what you are feeling.

    Best Regards Lynnd

  • I can say the same about my sister the horrible part though is the day after she has her chemo but then she gets better n for a min we hope a miracle will happen

  • That's what it's like with my dad,one minute he has got just days left then the next the doctors say he is stable for now, they have managed to get the kidneys a boost and he has started eating abit more,he has been in the hospital 3 weeks now they are letting him out Monday or Tuesday and waiting for a bed at the hospice until the kitchen is finished in my mum n dads house my mum is in temporary accommodation due to a flood in the kitchen it's an insurance job lol so my dad can go to the temporary house then the hospital until the kitchen is done, according to the doctors my dad won't be here that long....but all I can do is hope

  • Is your husband in hospital?or is he home x

  • Hi

My husband is at home. He has not been classed as terminal at this moment in time. He goes for his 6 monthly MRI scan on 8th April and then to see his consultant on the 8th May.  Hope your dad is doing as well as can be expected.
