I an sorry to read about the spread. But the hormonr therapy should still help to keep things stable. there are some side effects from it but all are manageble. First is the HOT FLUSHES. my wife used to laugh when I  used to get them.second are the mood swings. Some men get irratable but it affected me in when I heard good or bad news, I used to end up with tears streaming down my face and there was nothing I coiuld do to stop it. But it was all a small price to pay for the great result I had.

Thanks for you kind words guys.  We had a meeting with the doctor today how said that dads psa was over 1900 which is showing that the cancer is very advanced.  They cannot put a timescale on it but dont think he will last out this year.  It so hard to imagine him going through this.  They are still giving him the hormone drugs and injections and gets his 2nd one in 2 weeks time .  I dont know if they will test his psa at the same time ?  Its all very muddy at the moment... My poor mum is 77 years old and is playing full time nurse to dad cause he has a chest infection already.  Shes exhausted and we are trying to take the pressure off by cleaning the house , ironing and all the every day stuff.  Today she broke down in tears and was blaming herself... doesnt understand why after 60 years being together she didnt notice there was something seriously wrong.  I am trying to encourage her to come on to the chat forum as already I feel better getting thinks off my chest and chatting to other people who have a good understanding .  Thanks again guys x

Please tell your mother there is no way she could have know for in the early stages of prostate cancer there are little or no signs at all. When signs do start showing, normally the cancer is allready in an advancedstage. I was very very lucky in that te only sign I had was when I heard water running in the metal sink, I had to run to te looe and that is not even list as a sign of prostate cancer.

I am sorry that your dads PSA is that high. All I can say is to try and make some special memories with him if you can for later on it does help trust me. I lost my mother nearly ten years ago to breast cancer which spread to her brain. Andnow when I am feeling low, those memories do help.
