Really need advice please

Hi everyone, I'm just looking for some advice/reassurance please. I'm really worried about my brother in law. He was diagnosed with an neuroendoctrine tumor Tuesday of this week. He found out he had a tumor last Nov 16, but it's taken until this week after, ct scan, MRI, pet scan and biopsy to get a definite diagnosis. He was also having symptoms way before then, but doc thought it was a sinus problem. The tumor is 5cm by 5cm and is behind his eye, it has also spread into his eye and lymph nodes. It has also spread to his brain. They can't operate because it's too dangerous at the moment. He is supposed to start chemo on the 17th Jan to see if it makes any difference to the tumor.

My sister (his partner) has rung me tonight to say he's been in agony with the pain. He wanted to ring an ambulance because of how bad it's been. The only kind of relief he gets is when he lays down. She rang the hospital he's under earlier today to explain, but they said they don't want him in hospital incase he picks up an infection. Then he won't be able to start treatment.

I am angry for him that they have more or less sent him away with this pain to try and deal with on his own. Surely someone could come out to see him to give him something stronger, such as morphine.

Can anybody give some advice please?

  • Have you tried the advice lines: Marie Currie 08000902309, McMillian 08088080000, they will help you get into the support system. My partner is terminal and it's easy to feel abandoned, please remember you are not alone, help is out there but you have to seek it out. Good luck

  • Hi Mick 1962

Thankyou for your reply. I'm so sorry about what you're going through. Sending lots of love.

My sis is going to ring the hospital again today. He's really no better. He can barely stand or sit now because of the pain. Just so worried for him. He's deteriorated a lot this week.
