Mum has terminal oesophageal cancer

Hi all

My mum was diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer that has spread to her right lung, lymph nodes and spine. My 3   sons worship the ground she walks on and she is now living with us as she's not able to look after herself at home.

we are waiting for biopsy results to determine how aggressive it is and once we know this, I have to work out how and what to tell my boys...?! Help!!

  • Hi Sammy79,

I'm sorry to hear your mum has been diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer which has spread to her right lung, lymph nodes and spine and I can understand why you may be worried about how to break the news to your children. I'm not sure how old they are and how much they know already but I think their age will help you work out what to say to them. Many members have been in the same situation with their children and I'm sure they will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

Do come back and let us know what the biopsy results are. We'll have our fingers crossed for the best news you can receive in this situation.

    All the best,
