Mid chemo CT scan

Hello - very new to all this - my Mum was diagnosed in July with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and is having a scan tomorrow to check progress of the tumour - -just wondering what people's experience of this is and how common is it for progress to be good in order for treatment to continue? My understanding is that if it hasn't shrunk then chemo will be stopped?

  • Hi,

My husband has bladder cancer, He had an initial 3 cycles of chemo and then a scan. The scan showed that the tumours had not shrunk at all and were described as 'static' at that time.  The chemo was changed to a different type, and he is now halfway through the new one.  If you were given the number of a cancer clinical nurse as part of your mum's management team, I would ring them and ask the questions as it could take a while for you to find out the results of the scan.  Hope it goes well, good luck x

  • Hi.

Similarly, my step mum was diagnosed with pancriatic cancer, locally advanced, in April. After 3 months of chemo today was her mid way scan. I am desperatte to know the results. How soon do the results come  back?

    Sending love and positive vibes
