My husband has bladder cancer which has spread to his lungs, spine and pelvic lymph nodes.  His first round of chemo was unsuccessful and they have currently ruled out any surgery, even though they initially told us that he would have an operation.  He's now just started a different chemo, which is only for a couple of hours every 3 weeks, which does'nt seem like very much compared to the first one which was much longer.  We are very frustrated by the lack of communication and explanation from the hospital.  I know that they are very busy and completely overstretched, any tips for how to deal with this?

  • hi tiggywinkle, yes, never sit back, always keep on them as to what treatment is next and why and when, i have learnt over the years you do have to fight your own corner, as you can get a bit lost in the system it seems as the nhs so overwelmed these days. but they are very good and they do there best but are so stretched. never feel like you are bothering them, sometimes its better to.
