I seem to be more scared than mum is...

In just three weeks, mum has had X-rays showing shadows on her lung? Followed by a CT scan which showed them as tumours, then a PET scan which also showed cancer of the spine. She has since had 2 sessions of radiotherapy, to be followed by another 3 Monday Tuesday and Wednesday next week. She has many tablets, including steroids and painkillers. I am going to speak to the nurse next week, as mum only wants to know certain things, and I respect that, but she has said we can find out but only tell her if she asks. I haven't slept properly for most of this time, and I am sure she hasn't either. There is so much information on the internet I am getting myself into a state. She is in pain, but this is being controlled as much as possible. I'm not sure what the prognosis is at this time, but I am frightened what the future may hold, and do not want to see her in more pain. She is being so brave, and still has the best sense of humour, I love her for this as well as many other things. Any guidance or information will be gratefully received.

  • Hello France2016,

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s condition, it must be a very difficult time for you both.

I have also noticed that you posted on our forum before on “Ask the nurses” and I was wondering whether it would be helpful for you to have a chat with them?

Our nurse helpline is also open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm - you can reach them on this free number 0808 800 4040, the line is free of charge if you’re calling from the UK.

    I hope this helps.

Please do let us know how you both are getting on.

    Best wishes,

    Renata
