Don't know what to do

My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with metastases to his spine, nodes & liver on his 51st birthday in August ,  it was only found when he had a fracture to his thoracic vertebra which compressed the spinal cord causing paralysis caused by the Mets to the bone.  Like everyone on here it has been a rollercoaster of a journey so far with major spinal surgery to fix his back, he is learning to walk again, radiotherapy & will start chemotherapy 10 days.

I know my husband has been through so much already & can't imagine how hard it is for those suffering but this week he point blank refused to go for his hospital appointments & I don't know what to do or say, I'm scared that this is the beginning of him giving up.  Any ideas on what I should say or do would be gratefully received.  Thanks Jude x

  • Hello swiftnick13, so sorry to hear of your situation. I am not qualified to advise what to do but others on here are so I hope they respond.

What I would suggest is if you have a Senior Nurse contact, I did, then consult with them for advise, I found my wifes nurse indespensable. You have a lot to handle and its always better when you share as you have done here. If you dont progress in persauding him to have his treatment there is always your GP for advice and of course the nurses on here.\

    Best wishes Jude.
