Mums bowel cancer battle

For the past 18 months my mum who has always been extremely fit and well suddenly became sick and my sister and I made her go to the gp as she was going on a cruise at the following weekend. Her tumour was discovered by the gp and our lives suddenly started the long difficult and challenging  cancer journey. 6 weeks of daily chemo and radation followed by a 10 hour operation we are where we are. We should be coming out the other side but as everyone on this sight will know if only it were that simple.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Joey.

I'm sorry to hear about your mum but it's good you and your sister made her go to the GP when she was unwell. Although a tumour was found it's great that she is able to have treatment and it's going o.k so far. Like you've said, it is a long and challenging road but you are not alone.

Many members on the forum will know what you're going through right now, especially those with a similar diagnosis or have supported family members or friends through a cancer journey and hopefully they will be along soon to offer their support and share their experiences with you.

Do keep us updated on your mum's progress when you can.

Best wishes to you and your family,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
