Vulval cancer

Hi my mum has been diagnosed with vulval cancer she has had a opertaion to remove most of the cancer and has has lymph nodes removed recently surgeon has now suggested a course of radiotherapy.  I know its a small thing to worry about but i would like to get her a few things that may help her through the radio therapy treatment. Any suggestions ??? Feeling a little helpless for her and uninformative about what she may experience and side effects ect.x

  • Hi Stich_jumba, welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that your mum was diagnosed with vulval cancer but I'm glad to hear that the operation has gone well and she has now moved on to radiotherapy. I have found some information about radiotherapy for this type of cancer on our website. Just click here to find out more.

Getting her a few things to help her through the treatment sounds like a wonderful idea. Many of our members who have also had radiotherapy may be help to help with this and I'm sure they will be along soon to offer their suggestions and ideas. Also, another member who has recently joined the forum may be able to help with this as well. Their name is [@Hevs]‍ and they are going through the same process as your mum. Now that I've tagged them in this post they will hopefully pop by soon to chat.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind Regards,

  • Hi If you can find them some soft loose trouses and also either french knickers or soft short pj bottoms in stead of normal underwear. Mine has moved to the lymph nodes and I have my planning appointment next week for the radio therapy so will know more then good luck to mum xx
