What's going on

Hi , my husband had a GBM grade 4 can't operate due to wear it is he can't have radiotherapy as he had that less than two years ago for another type of cancer but we found this GBM in Feb 16  he has been having chemo and has been finding it tough . He is weak has no energy he is on medication for fits and steroids now our last MRI showed quite a bit of shrinkage which is good ! But why is he getting worse I can understand if the gbm was still growing and I know things take time to repair but his memory and understanding and confusion is getting worse daily ? I know this sounds silly but could they have got it wrong with the MRI it was done at a different hospital and usually he has a contract dye put in and comes out with a plaster on his arm , but the last time he didn't I asked him but he said he took the plaster off but it seemed very quick compared to the hospital he usually goes to plus I couldn't see any sign of where he had the injection and he does got so confused am I seeing things that are not there ?

  • Hi Lynn,

I'm sorry that another GBM has been found but it's great that the last MRI showed quite a bit of shrinkage. I'm also sorry to hear that your husband's memory, understanding and confusion seem to be worse at the moment but hopefully they will improve over time. Unfortunately I can't answer that question for you but our specialist cancer nurses may be able to help. If you are in the UK you can call them for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m-5p.m.

Do give them a call if you can as they will be able to discuss your husband's situation in more detail and hopefully put your mind at ease.

    Kind Regards,
