  • Hi Char58,

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. My dad was recently dagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. He has shots as well called Zoladex every 3 months. My dad is 63, and the doctor has told him he may have about 3 years left. This has been heartbreaking for my family. My sister and I are only 26 and 24, so it's been a huge shock for us. We always saw our dad as healthy and strong, so we were completely shocked when we found out he has stage IV Prostate cancer.

It's so hard to say how long the shots will last, as our doctor said. Every person reacts differently. Thankfully, my dad doesn't have any pain, but it's been an emotional ride for all of us. We were told chemo isn't usually done until after the hormone therapy stops working? Or maybe i had misunderstood.

If you want to chat, I'm always here!!

  • Thank you  for the response!!! He is almost finished with radiation now. Right at this moment he is in tears with pain in his left upper leg. He is on plenty of pain medication... I have been told that bone cancer is extremely difficult and painful.... what else can I do to help??? So Lost!!!

  • My husband has the same thing.  He was doing well, but we have now found out it has spread.  He is also on Lupron shots every three months.  He has already had two rounds of radiation and 6 rounds of chemo.  I feel like we are back to square 1 at this point.  He has lots of pain also.  Hopefully this new round of chemo will help.  He has been battling this for almost 5 years.  He is now 66.  I was very hopeful up until we got this last diagnosis. Each person is different and hopefully this chemo will put him in remission again.  I have been depressed with this new information and just wonder how much longer this can all go on.  I know how tired he is and he hurts all the time.  I am also tired and weary from all of this.
