cerebellum secondary following treated breast cancer

Hi

my cousin(49 year old) wasdiagnosed to have stage 3 Ca.Breast last year and went on to have left mastectomy and several rounds of chemo.

she was apparently given all clear. But last 2 weeks she was getting headaches and dizziness, and MRI scan showed 2cm dia lesion in her right cerebellum parenchyma-they suspect it is secondary. She is waiting to get PET scan done.

Can anybody let me know treatment options.prognosis and sequelae of this complication?

  • Hello PC and a big welcome to our forum,

I am sorry about your cousin's diagnosis and about the lesion that was discovered following her MRI scan.

I hope you will hear from others here who know about this complication. I've also asked our nurses to respond to your message and shed some light on this for you. They will reply in the next few days.

  • Hi pc,

Thanks for posting on the forum, Lucie, one of the moderators, has asked us to reply to you.

I am sorry to hear about your cousin’s situation. This must be a difficult time for all the family.

It is difficult for us or other forum users to say what her treatment options and prognosis are. Cancer is a very individual disease and so the plan for your cousin will be based upon her individual case. Also the prognosis will depend upon how well any treatment works to manage the cancer.

The best thing to do is for your cousin to speak to her specialist doctor about this. They can explain a bit more about what is going to happen next with treatment and maybe the possible outcomes.

    Kind regards,

    Deborah
