My other half had his first tip treatment last week, my daughter has now come down with a bug. We are keeping them separate as best we can but would it be better if I slept in a different room tonight to be on the safe side?

Hi and thanks for posting,
I am one of the nurse enquiry team and have been asked if we could add anything to your thread. I don’t think it is possible to predict how far your other half’s white cell count may fall as a result of the chemotherapy (this is what could make him vulnerable to picking up an infection) or if you will pick up the same bug that your daughter has, but even so, I think it would make good sense to sleep apart from him for the next few days just to be on the safe side. And to wash your hands carefully and more often than you might otherwise.
I expect you have already been told that he needs to watch out for and promptly report any potential sign of an infection such as fever, shivering, sweats, sore throat, a cough, breathlessness, diarrhoea or pain when passing urine. Most people are told to check their temperature and if they feel unwell or have a temperature of 37.5ºC or below 36 ºC to contact the hospital for advice.
I hope your daughter recovers soon and that is the end of it.
All the best,
Julia
