Dad told today cancer has spread, terminal!

Feel shell shocked! Dad was diagnosed last year with renal cancer he is 79, medics said because of his age and because he was in bad health couldn't do anything, the cancer is contained in the kidney and you will be here for years rather than months.

Since discharge he has seen no body...

The last few weeks has an awful pain in back, breathless, coughing up blood.... After ct scan and X-ray, called into doctor today to say he has cancer in his oesophagus, lungs and spine....

Oncologist has said they can't do anything and to enjoy the time he has! That's it.....

My poor beautiful dad is so scared, mum has Alzheimer's and is in a care home, all he is bothered about is how long can he go on visiting her. Thank god she is oblivious.... Life can be so cruel!

I have all sorts of things going round my mind, needed to just write on here, as at the moment cannot believe this is happening... Thanks Cal xx

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat calred50,

We're so sorry to hear that your dad's cancer has spread and is now terminal.

It's completely understandable you would have so many thoughts running through your mind but I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. Many of our members have been through a similar situation and will understand how you're feeling and what you may be thinking at this time.

Now I've bumped your thread to the top of the forum they should be along soon to offer their support and share their experiences with you.

    Best Wishes,

  • Hello calred50,

I'm really sorry to hear your dad's situation.

I have never been in such a tough situation but I know how is to feel hopeless and have a horrible thoughts in your mind.

For me this chat is the most beautiful thing I have now because I can say everything I feel and people here is amazing. Their support has given me peace. The fact someone else is reading  you with no judgments and to know they understand what you feel is really helpful and you won't feel alone.

If you want to talk I'm here for you and I will try to help you as much as I can even when this about cancer is pretty new in my life.

    Send you love.

    Fany.
