Lymphoma not responding to chemo

Hi

My Dad was diagnosed with a rare aggressive form of lymphoma in november last year. He's had 6 months of chemo which, we found out last week, has been effectively useless. He has had infections and a pulmonary embolism (which apparently is related- has anyone else had experience with this?). We're now on another lot of chemo but I get the impression from the medical staff that things are not looking great, but no ones telling us much. It just seems so cruel that he's been through a horrible six months of treatment for nothing and now has months more ahead of him. I'm so worried all the time, I feel like we're just waiting for the next thing to go wrong. I'm in the middle of uni exams (I'm 20) and as you can imagine that's going very poorly. Everything is just falling apart and I don't know what to do. Has anyone got experience with lymphoma? Has this sort of thing happened with the chemo not working forst time to anyone else?

thanks

  • Hi. My mum has a rare & agressive lymphoma - angioimmunoblastic Tcell lymphoma. She is having one infection after another and we're only one chemo in, and she's been too ill to have the second so far. Already she has been through so much and I wonder some days if the quality of life she has just now is worth all the pain and suffering. I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel with your dad having had six months of treatment. Life is hard and cruel sometimes but we just take each day as it comes. Take care of yourself too.  Beth
