Hi I'm sorry to hear about your dad. Is he in hospital and have they offered any treatment? My partner is 10 years post diagnosis of stage 4 bowel cancer with liver mets and doing well after a recent liver resection
Hello HBA,
Sorry to hear about your father.
Regarding the bowel blockage (obstruction) is surgery an option? My dad was diagnosed exactly a year ago with stage 4 bowel cancer with secondaries to the lungs and liver. He ended up suffering from a bowel obstruction last July and ended up having emergency surgery to remove 75% of the bowel which also contained the cancer if left they said it would have burst killing him. He'd been in pain several days before. I don't think anyone can say how long anybody has left to live any numbers given are usually just guesses which are down to statistics.
My dad is in hospice and his bowel is partially blocked. He has had a lot of bowel movements apparently and his stomach seems to be shrinking. Surgery isn't an option but it does seem to clearing. He is apparently in good health as the woman in charge says he is young and can walk around.
My dad's bowel blockage seems to be partially blocked as he is going to the toilet often and is drinking a lot of fluids. Surgery isn't an option.
Hi,
I’m now in the same position as you. What treatment do you find for your dad?
