I'm struggling to be "normal" around my dad, just want to cry all the time. Also trying to keep it away from my youngest children, who are 12 and 11 is a struggle

Hi karen
Sorry to hear about your dad!
My mum was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer in January! I'm her carer! My dad passed away from leukaemia just over a year ago... I know how hard it is coping with someone who has cancer. Sometimes it seems many people don't understand how you feel or what to say. If you need to cry, then cry, it will cause you more problems holding your feelings in than letting them flow! Just because your the daughter does not mean you don't get the right to feel emotions too! It affects family members just as much as the patients themselves. Sometimes it just feels like the world is crumbling around you. However treatment is so advanced that they can do so much to extend and help quality of life! Try not to think too much on the negative side. There are many illnesses also that are incurable such as diabetes ect ect however they are controlled with certain drugs and things. Similar kind of thing, it's incurable, however it can be controlled well with certain chemo drugs!
Don't suffer in silence! Ask for help when needed, get support! It'll do you better in the long run!
Big hugs to you and keep your chin up!
