chemotherapy

Hi all, so dad started his chemo last week and so far all seems good, he's had no really side effects at all, all very early days I know, but after being so worried that he would become poorly with it, I'm just enjoying the fact that dad still seems ok, well as ok as someone with lung cancer can be!!

So here's my issue, I have always been one to worry even if there is nothing to worry about I will find something!! I know it's great that dad hasn't been made ill by the chemo but the over thinker in me is now worried that does this mean the chemo isn't working and that's why he hasn't had any effects from it??? I know a lot will say just be grateful that he is coping ok with it, and trust me I really am, but like I said , I really do worry over silly things!!!

And now iv just waffled on, sorry!!!

  • Hi,let the chemo do it.s job and we are all differant  , your dad might tolarate chemo well .Try not to worry.Sue x.

  • Hi Yvonne,

There's an old wive's tale that the worse chemo makes you feel, the more good it is doing.
That's all it is, an old wive's tale. Some people are lucky and suffer few or no side effects, others suffer terribly with exactly the same drugs. In my case, I was told that I'd definitely lose all my hair quote from head to toe. It thinned a little but that was all - which seemed unfair as I have short hair anyway and it seems to be trendy for middle-aged men to shave their heads. Despite this, my chemo did what it was supposed to do.

So, that's one less thing for you to worry about :-)

    Best wishes
    Dave

    How's everything going for you?
