  • Hi Polly it is so hard I feel for you. My mum was also diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer in September. She was given very little time and sent home after pneumonia with poor diagnosis. Well christmas came and went and 4 cycles of chemo later, she is still here.

Except lots of help, call Macmillan and if you have other support in your area use them. We have a support group called Iaine Rennie in Buckinghamshire they are fab, I'm not sure where you are but there may be something similar. Do you have family support?

Staying positive is the key and celebrating small things and victories. You will have respiratory nurses in the community also, call them they are amazing and offer support. I found it was having someone to call and knowing they were there really helped. I have found its about changing your goals and expectations just smiling and spending time together is so so special. Make sure you have support, never be frightened to call up the promises of help friends neighbours etc offer.
