my mum

my mum is having chemo not sure how to surport her

  • Hi midge.  I am sorry to hear that your Mum has a cancer diagnosis. I hope she is coping well with the treatments.

Mum's are not too good at asking for help so just doing some of the physical jobs unprompted would probably mean the world!  Hoovering and/or dusting,, making a meal, ironing, giving the kitchen/bathroom a thorough scrub or changing the bed.  It is great to have someone with you when you shop to do the heavy lifting bits.  With Xmas here mum may really appreciate help with gift shopping and wrapping or the sausage roll/mince pie cooking (I'm doing mine tomorrow for the freezer because chemo is next wk).  If mum is like me she will probably feel at her worse the week after chemo so I have figured I'm on a good run till the 17th when it's chemo and fingers crossed I will be ok for the 25th.

It is great that you are such a caring daughter and I am sure that mum will do really well with you around supporting her. Remember to just sit together and share your feelings -you need support too and your Mum will still want to be there for you. You can emotionally support each other.

There are many people here who are going through a similar situation as you so please keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Good luck to mum with her treatment x
