prostate cancer

My husband had a radical  prostatectomy 18 months ago.So far it's  been difficult  with incontinence. He is waiting to see a surgeon  in february  for further  surgery to hopefully  correct this. The worst thing is waiting for his psa  levels. It has gone up slightly but consultant  says they aren't  worried and has put him to 6 monthly  check.

He doesn't  really like to talk about it,which I  can understand  but it's  always at the back of my mind and I have no one  tobsgare it with.

  • Hi Frazzle,

Thanks for sharing your story with us. I would just say that the second to last psa test I had was up but then the next one was down. psa is only a rough guide and if one has a water infection the psa can vary, bearing in mind they are measuring to a very low level so this may explain why they dont seem worried. The fact that he doesnt like to talk about it unfortunately makes it harder for you. When I had my prostate cancer, I tried to be as open and honest with my wife as possible.
