Small Cell Lung cancer

My mum has recently been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and I'm struggling with it.

Weve not been given a timeline and all of the statistics point to it being a maximum of two years. I know that each person is different with how they respond with treatment.

I don't know if she's responding well to treatment or not.

  • Hello Gemma,

Welcome to the forum and so sorry to hear that your Mum has been diagsnoed with cancer.

As you say every one is different and so sometimes it not always possible to get answers to questions. We do have some information on our website about lung cancer and if you think it might help we also have a team of nurses that you can call to chat to.
They are available Mon-Fri 9am-5pm on 0808 800 4040 (free to call from a UK landline).

Keep in touch Gemma and post whenever you feel you need to.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Gemman

My husband was diagnosed Sept 2014 with Non small cell stage 4 squamas cell carcinoma - unknown primary - possibly lung.  The tumor was in his upper chest and he went through radiation & aggresive chemo.  His last petscan showed a nodule in the lung.   I understand your struggle, I am still struggling to come to the realization that he was given 3-5 yrs.  I was told to not concentrate on the "time" but it is hard not to once that is in your head.  I hope and pray your Mother's treatment helps her to have a good quality of life.
