Worried about my mother

Hello, I am posting here as I don't know what else to do. My mother has been for some tests following having some bleeding when urinating. She was sent for a smear test, cytoscopy (prob not spelt correctly) of the bladder and an ultrasound scan. She made an appointment with a GP last week and he advised there was a mass on or near the kidney and a potential abnormality at the hip. From what I can gather the GP said it was cancer but didn't have a copy of the scans available at the appointment which I found strange. She is going for a bone scan and then a CT scan before going for an outpatient appointment for the results. I am just finding this whole thing completely frustrating and overwhelming, mainly as I went through Cancer with my husband two years ago. I am really scared it is very serious especially as she has been hving some hip and back pain and a cough. I am so worried her about whilst trying to deal with barely any sleep as my first daughter is 5 weeks old. Any thoughts welcome.

  • Hi Crazycatlady

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

As if the worry about your mum wasn't enough, you also have a five week old baby and the sleep deprivation to cope with too.

On top of this, if you have been through cancer with your husband then I imagine this increases your anxiety about what may lie ahead.

There are many here who will understand your concerns now. Waiting for test results is a stressful time. Please do let us know how you and your mum are getting on.

As well as support from other Cancer Chat members, you can also call our nurses for advice. They take calls on freephone: 0808 800 4040 from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes
