  • Hi lindalou. There is a lovely lady called Jules on the forum who will be able to help you with your question as sadly she has faced this situation too, quite recently. Watch out for her ladybug avatars and ask her to read your thread - she will be pleased to help you, she's a gem xxx

  • Hi lindalou,

Spotted my name and though I would drop you a line.

When my husband was under palliative care (I live in Middlesex) he had a great consultant/support worker plus our GP.  As and when required we were slowly given increased options as his illness advanced. He had a nominated palliative care nurse but to be honest our best link was through the GP/Community Care Nurses who were so supportive of us both.  I could not have managed without them. Through them we also were able to source aids for use in the home and in many instances they arranged this for us which helped relieve the stress too.  He was able to stay at home until his journey ended in January this year as this is what he asked for.  My husband's cancer was in his lung linings.  If  you have any specific questions I will do my best to answer them so do drop me a line. Hope you have family support too. Regards Jules x

  • Hi lindalou

I would strongly recommed you look into referring your father to your local hospice as they have wonderful community teams who can offer amazing support to the whole family to enable you to care for him at home and they work very closely with all the healthcare people involved in his care. My local hospice in Kent does truly brilliant work and their staff are unbelievably compassionate and offer practical help as well as
