  • Hi

Welcome to the forum though sorry to read the reason you find yourself here. It is quite understandable for you to be worried about your Dad's diagnosis/treatment and the waiting for results of scans to see if there is any change brings its own anxiety. Not sure how old you are or whether you are still at home but either way it would be good for you to have someone to chat to and the forum gives you that opportunity.  You can also ring the nurses Mon to Fri 9-5 (free from UK landlines and some mobiles) on the number on this page.

If your Dad has chosen not to know his prognosis (and lots of people prefer not to) then unless he gives his medical team/doctor permission to discuss it with you it will be difficult to know timescales.  In any event such information is only a guide and many doctors have been proved wrong over the years with medical treatments constantly changing and the disease behaving differently in each patient..

The one thing that mattered to my  husband the most when he was diagnosed was that our children and the family continued with their lives and he wanted everything kept as it normally was. We coped on a day by day, week by week basis.  This forum was a mine of information and support and I hope others will be along to offer their thoughts.  Hope there is the best possible news when your Dad has his next scan and if you get the opportunity let us know how you are getting on.Jules54.
