  • Hi

Welcome to the forum but sad to see the reason that brings you here.  I am sure others will be along to offer support at what is a very difficult time for you, your Dad and the whole family. I suspect that other family members feel much the same as you do (in our family it was my husband though with a different cancer) and being an only child (I am one) can feel a little isolating when this happens (my Dad had prostate as a primary and lung cancer as a secondary some 8 years ago). I have found this forum a very supportive environment and sometimes it just helps to write down your feelings/have a rant or just ask questions.  Waiting for results of scans adds to the emotional stress (many here will relate to this) and the only way I coped was day to day.  None of us can be strong all the time and hope you have someone you can offload to - being emotional helps to release the build up of worries/fears, My workmates would give me a hug (my face could give me away sometimes).  Hope their is some promising news when the results come through but the forum is here 24/7 if you need to share your story.  Jules 54

  • Hi Andy ..I'm sorry to hear you news , do you mind me asking how old you are ? It's such a tough illness , I too have lung cancer I was diagnosed in March and I've just finished my chemo . It's hard to get through but worth it . I'm ok and learning to live with as is the rest of my family . My daughter has been amazing and she's only 19 ... BUT I'm sure she's been through moments of despair .Know one can be strong 100% of the time that's why it's important to chat on here or to your best friend ?.Say hi any time and if I can help in any way then I'd be pleased to , best wishes Christelle x

  • Hi andy

The cancer journey seems to have many ups and downs and its never easy seeing a parent so low and feeling unable to make it better.  Hope that the forum can help you on those difficult times as much as it has helped me.  Jules
