My partner has just had a biopsy on the lymph nodes to see if his malignant melanoma has spread. They have given him an appointment to come back for results over 6 weeks time. Not sure we can wait that long with out cracking up. Does it really take that long or can our doctor push for results sooner?

  • Hi there, welcome to the forum, but sorry for the reason that you're here. I wanted to answer your post as I see no one has responded as yet. I don't know the answer to your question, other than giving you my opinion based on my own experience. I have always received the report about 3 weeks after the biopsy, which to me, is long enough to wait when cancer is the issue. I can think of a few things you can do to find out why its' taking this long. You can call the doctor's office who requested and/or did the biopsy to ask why its' taking that long. There may be a perfectly legitimate reason for it, but at least you should get an explanation. The other possibility perhaps, you can call the nurses here on this forum, (the number is at the bottom of this page) during regular office hours, or you can post your question in the category, "Ask the Nurses" and they will reply, generally how long these things can take.

I hope this is of some help. Take care and good luck with it.

    Lorraine
