Primary Cancer Brain Tumour advice needed please

Is there anyone who has had experience of this form of cancer, as things have deteriorated SO much within1 week, that as a famiy we havent got any idea, of the timescale we are facing.

Brief summary my 34 year old brother has primary brain tumours, which have grown on the last course of chemo and within 3 months of last scan.  1 is on brain stem so inoperable, now has about 4.  He had a drain fitted to 1, 2 weeks again and they removed 40ml of fluid.  At this point he could walk (slowly) and talk, balance affected, constant noise in the ears, sight slightly affected.

Started new chemo last week, now can hardly hear, side of his face dropped (looks like hes had a stroke but may be tumours affecting), struggling having a conversation, sleeping mostly, although he thinks hes hardly slept and noise in his head has got louder, so we have to shout when talking?  Anyone experienced it, no-one saying anything.  Now hes talking about marrying his partner, does he have time?  Thanks any info appreciated xx

  • Hi Jess, welcome to the forum, but sorry for the reason you are here. I can't comment on your brother's cancer symptoms because I really don't know anything about his type of cancer, but I just wanted you to know that people on here read the posts and try to respond so newbies don't feel like no one is reading. I can say this though, your brother is going through a lot of pain and discomfort from what you say and my heart goes out to him at this difficult time. Also, as you and your family must be struggling with wanting to help him, but not able to do anything for him. That is so hard for loved ones.

I'm sure someone who knows something about your brother's type of cancer will respond to your post soon, but in the meantime, you can call or post the nurses on this forum and they may be able to shed some light on this for you. Their phone number is at the bottom of this page.

Take care and I hope you get some answers soon.

  • Thank you Lorraine for your reply.  It's just so hard knowing what to expect.   I was totally taken aback by the quick deterioration I'm hoping some may be down to the new chemo.  He's now talking about marrying his partner....so not sure how quick we have to push this through.

    Take care xx
