5 years ago my hubby was admitted to hospital with gallstones scans also.revealed he had stomach cancer and given a diagnosis that it was incurable but chemo could control it .Subsequently he has undergone 2 separate rounds of chemotherapy numerous scans and the oncologist and consultant who we.see for the gall stones are amazed he has lived so long It has not been plain sailing with pain ,fatigue to the fore lately he has had blood transfusions and an endoscopy revealed narrowing to the exit of the stomach so restricting food release a barium X-ray confirmed a mass was blocking the stomach exit and hubby was put on liquid diet only .Another ct scan report said that cancer was contained in the stomach and this is.important, it hadn't spread to other organs and there was a possibility that the gastro oesophageal specialist could perform an operation to remove the stomach and therefore the cancerand do at the.same time the gall bladder could be removed by the surgeon dealing with it so he was invited on board. .I must say at this point we discussed that it was only a 50/50 chance that it could be successful We as a family supported my husband's decision to go ahead as he thought he would have better quality of life
.This operation took place this week and when they opened him up none of the surgery planned could take place as the cancer was massed and had invaded the liver and the wall of the gall bladder .My hubby is currently recovering from the op but is devastated that surgery could not go ahead and I am devastated for him Just had to get it out of my system so I can carry on being his carer and all the emotions that I go through and at the same time being strong for him We as a family are angry that he has gone through an op we now wish he hadn't had
