Waiting is excruciating

I feel like the hospital have really messed my husband about. It's getting in for 6 months since he first saw his GP and they found fluid on his lungs he's waited 6 weeks for biopsy results only to be told it's inconclusive it could be medethelioma but it might not be !! They really seem to be dragging their feet sending him for different scans district nurses draining his chest 3 times a week, he looks thin and visibly ill but the communication has been terrible I'm so annoyed but don't know where to turn

I'm so sorry to hear that your husband is still waiting for confirmation of a diagnosis all this time after his biopsy, and that the communication from the hospital has been terrible.

I'd suggest contacting the hospital's PALS department. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.

We know that this period of waiting and uncertainty can be very difficult for many people. If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. If you'd like to speak with them, they're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that the district nurses are keeping him comfortable with the drains and that you have some clarity regarding diagnosis and care very soon.

Keep in touch and let us know how you both are. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
