Chemotherapy - my brother has been told there is no prescription for his chemo and will have to wait until next month. Is this normal?

My Brother has oesophageal cancer with all lymph nodes involved no surgery was offered only 2 year treatment plan was offered.

He has had 5 rounds of chemotherapy to which he responed well.they have given him a years more chemotherapy once a month.

He had bloods for his october chemotherapy and went next day for his chemo to be told there was no prescription so no chemo and he would have to wait for his November s chemo.

Can I ask is this normal please ?

I'm sorry to hear that your brother is currently undergoing treatment for oesophageal cancer and that, for some reason, he was told that there was no prescription for the recent round of chemotherapy he was expecting.

Did the chemo team say there was no prescription? While it's not unusual for people to sometimes have a round of treatment delayed or to be missed, I'd encourage your brother to speak with his specialist cancer nurse, who will be able to give some clarity about why this has happened.

I hope that you can both get some reassurance soon.
