Liver tumour - been told they can't operate. Why aren't they trying another course of treatment instead?

My husband has psc and uc - they have now said he has a tumour on his liver but they cant operate because of sclerosis on the liver due to the psc and he is jaundiced.  It seems they are just going to monitor him.  I am thinking should I be doing something as it seems odd to just leave it - couldnt they try chemo or something?

  • Hi EAN,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

I can understand you having questions about this. I'm not sure how much you've talked it all through with the doctor, but do be sure to ask all questions that you have so that you can understand their thinking.

It may be possible to ask for a second opinion if you feel you'd like to speak to someone else.

We also have nurses available if you'd like to talk things through with one of them. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

I hope you're able to get some more information soon.

We're always here for support if you need it. Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
