Oh Dear What would they do without us!

Because of the heat and the fact he was ok last time we took the decision to let him go solo for today's chemo session. Which I am now feeling guilty about.

It is far too hot for me and the dogs to sit in the car park all day (they can't be left alone for 10 hours).  We went with him for the first session it was 35 degrees.

Anyway.  Had a phone call , wanting to know where he was  apparently he had gone for a coffee and they'd lost him!  That didn't do my stress levels any.good.

It turned out, the doctors had snaffled him for an appointment without telling the ward!  Two hours wasted, also apparently one of the treatments he was supposed to have today he isn't because some test results arent in.  He doesn't know which one.

You just can't leave them alone for a minute can you?  I would be asking all sorts of questions.  Who, what, where, when, why.

Can't hold their hand all the time though, he is an adult after all.  Should take some responsibility for his own health, without relying on me.  What would happen if I wasn't there?

One  good thing I don't feel like eating so perhaps some of the extra weight I am carrying will come off.

Sorry for the long grumble

Keep safe all.

  • Hello MrsBlueSky

Well, it sounds like there were lots of shenanigans going on at that appointment! Certainly also sounds like it was a sensible idea for you and the dogs to have stayed home with the heat as well.

It can be really difficult sometimes as a primary carer when we have to step back for whatever reason. Try not to feel guilty. You have been through so much yourself, and I'm sure you're doing an amazing job at supporting your husband. Sometimes we do have to take a moment to look after our own needs as well.

Hopefully, the two of you have been able to have a chuckle about him being snaffled by the doctors and causing all that worry to the nurses! Sometimes, laughter is the best medicine to deal with these kinds of incidents.

Keep your chin up MrsBlueSky. I hope that you, hubby and dogs are all managing in this weather.

    Best wishes,
