Concerned: my husband has Stage 4 Gleason 9 prostate cancer that has spread into lymph system

My husband has Stage 4 Gleason 9 prostate cancer that has spread into lymph system.

His ongoing treatment has impacted on osteoporosis leading to multiple spinal fractures, so has considerable pain in bones and joints. .

We have fortunately been able to continue with adventures and keep positive until about a month ago. Very suddenly it's a real struggle to get him to eat anything more than a biscuit or Angel delight.

He has lost a considerable weight and muscle.

Can anyone recommend a good supplement to help?

.

  • Hello Concerned2021,

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's situation and the sudden weight loss. While I can't recommend a specific supplement, it might help to speak to his medical team about what could help. We also have a team of cancer nurses available to talk to via our free helpline. You can call them on 0808 800 4040 and lines are open 9 to 5 Monday to Friday to discuss this or any other concerns or questions you may have. If you'd like further guidance, you can find information on our website around prostate cancer, including advice on treatment and coping with challenges.

I hope this is helpful to you and that things improve,

  • Hi I've just joined this forum. My husband  has the same. He loves banana  custard though. Don't know if this is something  your husband  would like. And we've had a sudden downturn  since Dec 2nd with a spinal fracture  and compression,  lots of pain. He's been in and out of our local hospice  for help with pain control and for physio after Radiotherapy.  Do you have a hospice  that can give advice? My husband  is coming home on Weds 21st. Sending hugs your way. It's really hard being a carer. X

  • Thank you for your help, he does like a banana. We do have a hospice that I could ask and I will do that. Thankfully my husband is still well enough to be at home, just isn't interested in eating, and painfully thin. Yes it can be tough but at least our husbands are still with us. Take care x
