Need advice.

My grandad has just recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and I have no idea how to help. He is 84, which I know is still a good age, but I'm terrified. My mum has taken on full carer to ensure he is comfortable but I don't know how I am supposed to help.

I don't want to make him change everything he used to do, like going shopping by himself, taking himself down do the laundry room in his complex, and just daily things he would normally do.

I've been told by family members to try help my mum, not only with my grandad but ensuring she doesn't do too much and become ill, but I don't know how I'm supposed to help anyone at the moment.

I'm hoping by making this post, I can have some advice on how to help them.

  • I am so sorry about your Grandad.  Ask your Mum what you can do to help.......tell her that you want to be of some help at this awful time and I   am sure that she will be pleased that you are offering to take some of the strain from her.  Being a carer is exhausting, I  cared for my Mum when she was dying from  this monstrous illness, and it really is very tiring.  Once again, so sorry about your Grandad.
