Hello mark264
I'm sorry to hear that your friend has recently been diagnosed with cervical cancer. It's so lovely that you want to try to offer as much support as you can despite the miles between you both. Hopefully, she has some day-to-day practical support from those who live near her.
Please don't undervalue the support that can come from maintaining your usual friendship interactions. When going through cancer treatment, there is a lot to be said for having some little sense of normality that doesn't centre around cancer. Hopefully, your conversations will help your friend to have a break and think about the past, and plan for good times ahead.
Hopefully some of the community members who have found themselves in similar circumstances will reply to share their tips and advice with you.
I hope that things progress well for your friend.
Sending you both my best wishes,
Jenn

Thanks Jenn for your kind words. At the moment she is right at the start. First CT scan on Thursday to see exactly what’s happening. Was a very dark day for her. But she still reached out even to say that she couldn’t talk. She has family and friends nearby so that’s good, but I feel so helpless at not being able to offer practical help or just sit with her.
