New diagnosis: my partner has just been diagnosed with Myeloma

  1. My partner has just been diagnosed with Myeloma. It's broken our hearts but we are trying to come to terms with it. We have no idea what to expect and would like to know what support we are able to try as I don't think my mental health is going to cope with looking after myself to keep healthy to be able to support and care for my partner.
  • A very warm welcome to Cancer Chat Candy56, although I'm sorry to hear your partner has just been diagnosed with myeloma.

This must be a very difficult time for you both but I'm glad you've joined us Candy56 as so many of our members will know what you're going through, so you are not alone, and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by to share their experiences and advice.

You can find out more about myeloma on our website but if you have any follow up questions or concerns, you can give our team of cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help.

I hope this information we have about taking care of yourself and supporting someone with cancer will prove useful as well but in the meantime, we're sending you all our support Candy56 and wishing you both all the best as you move on to the next part of this journey.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Cancer is devastating! I’m in the same boat as you of not knowing what to expect for my loved one. I too am struggling with my mental health and trying to hold it together for everyone else, but teetering on the edge of losing it completely.
Do you have friends and family to talk to? My friends are my lifeline and have already supported me so much over the years (as I have them). They truly are the ones that keep me going.
