My brother

Pancreas cancer and 2 strokes in 6 weeks.

My poor brother was diagnosed with pancrease cancer the following day he had a stroke which was possibly due to the stress of the news. He was recovering quickly as the stroke effected his speach partially and was still mobile and and a positive fighter.

3 weeks later after his first stroke was given chemotherapy which caused himnto have another atroke tgis time onnthe oooosite side. He tgen started to get a chest infection which ended up becoming pnemonia. He had a proceedure removing a dangerous clot near the main artery in the brain. :-( its breaking my heart. He is fighting and is off of the drips and oxygen but is in and out of deep sleep and is being fed via a tube. I have had his pit line removed as it started to go red in the soroundingvarea and this was just another excuse for an infection. I am adamant that he will not have chemo until he recovers somewhat from the stroke or we will be signing his death warrant :-( ain't the matter of 6 months he had goes from 90 kilos up to 3 months ago 75kilo. He was weighed today and he is weighing  66kilos.

Please tell me he will recover. It's so painfull to watch :-(

  • Hello Chim

I'm so very sorry to hear about all that your brother has been through in the last few months. It sounds like it's been an incredibly difficult time for you both and it's understandable that you may be feeling overwhelmed by all that he has, and continues, to endure.

I hope that you both have the support of family and friends around you at this difficult time. If it would help you to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully the hospital team will be able to continue to keep your brother stable and comfortable. Keep in touch Chim and let us know how you're both coping. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
