  • Hi Marotta25,

I am so sorry your 17 year old child had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and it is good news that their new blood is AML clear but I can understand you are worried about relapse - this fear will be at the back of your mind and it might be worth talking to your child's medical team about your worries and why you are feeling this way. I am sure they will be able to explain everything to you and hopefully reassure you.

Feel free also to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and it can help sometimes to talk things through with them.

What you experienced - seeing your child going through treatment for AML at such a young age was no doubt very difficult and traumatic for a parent and I hope that your child will remain AML clear and will be closely monitored. I hope that talking to the specialist about this will alleviate your worries a little.

    Best wishes,
