Partner has Cancer

My partner has been diagnosed with intermuscular bladder cancer.

It will not respond to radiotherapy and it is aggressive. It is contained in the bladder and has not spread as far as they can see.

His last CT scan was over 2 months ago and he is anxious that if it spreads it will become untreatable. We haven't received much information as of yet other than that bladder will be removed.

Has anyone navigated anything similar.  We have 3 young boys and it tough not knowing.

  • Hello ReeBeeRee

I'm sorry to hear that your partner has recently been diagnosed with bladder cancer and that, at the moment, you're still waiting for news about the next steps. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious and worried about any potential delay and how this might impact your partner.

Have you been given contact details for a specialist cancer nurse at the hospital/ If you have, then don't be afraid to give them a call and ask for an update regarding what is happening with your partner's treatment. If you haven't been given details for a nurse, you can always call the Consultant's secretary to leave a message or speak with the hospital PALS team. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.

If it would help to talk with one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Keep in touch ReeBeeRee and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
